yeah, it is drainage, might be possible if there were an outslope to drain to but in this location the water travels in the same direction as the jumpsn with the drain being the lowest point

sand, not too long....its all in the packing for actual soil, our sand content is somwhat high, but once all the air and voids are beat out when packing, it'l setup like concrete as it dries

you know.....if you use WET sand to fill your bucket at the beach, you can make even sand pack vert....it takes alot of work to get this woodland soil as vert as that and hold a pack
